Dr. Moiz Tajkhanji (Taj), Owner/President
Dr. Moiz A. Tajkhanji (Taj) was born in Hyderabad, India, and grew up in the cosmopolitan Indian city of Mumbai. He later was admitted to the Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences in the city known as India’s medical Mecca, Bangalore. Upon completion of his five-year course in medicine, he was awarded a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery.
Dr. Taj then moved to Boston, Massachusetts, where he prepared for his USMLE/ECFMG exams and also worked at the Massachusetts General Hospital in the Pathology Department. He was accepted to the Family Practice residency program of the University of Virginia at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Virginia. During his three years of residency, Dr. Taj rotated at the three teaching hospitals as well as the two outpatient clinics in the area, gaining expertise and guidance in all areas such as minor surgery, psychiatric care, gynecology, pediatric medicine, and dermatology. Due to his excellence in patient care and subject knowledge, Dr. Taj was chosen Chief Resident for Family Practice in his final year. After finishing his residency, Dr. Taj decided to move to San Antonio, Texas, to be closer to his family and also due to the opportunities that the city offered as he raised his own family. Dr. Taj accepted a position with Gamboa Family Practice Associates in San Antonio, where he worked for two years handling all aspects of primary care.
It was there that he realized he wanted to practice medicine on his own terms, offering high-quality, dedicated patient care with much compassion and integrity. These factors led him to establish Toepperwein Family Practice in 1996, where he continues to maintain a busy yet patient-centered approach to healthcare.
Dr. Taj is currently board-certified in Family Practice and maintains hospital privileges at Northeast Methodist and Northeast Baptist Hospitals. Dr. Taj has served on peer review boards and Family Practice department meetings at Northeast Methodist. He has acquired additional training in Aesthetics, Bone Density Testing, Allergy testing, Immunotherapy, nerve conduction studies, Holter monitoring, minor surgery, diabetes care, cosmetic skin care, and non-surgical/minimally invasive weight loss procedures. His special interest is the routine care and management of diabetes, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, and allergy-related problems.
Dr. Moiz Taj lives in San Antonio with his wife and two children. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, foreign films, international cuisine, music, basketball, and water sports.
